So the first post on the new website and its quite confusing for me to say the least. I’ve been politically active since my early teens when I first started with the Anti War movement, that has waned in recent years mostly due boredom but; elections for me are a mixture of a geeky “I get to see peter snow in front of a swingometer” joy mixed with the knowledge that i’ll just be disappointed no matter the outcome.
But this election is different… I have a very good and old friend standing for the Glasgow Central seat for the SNP(Scottish National Party), Osama Saeed this man was one of the biggest influences in my life. So helping him out with his campaign is something I’d do at the drop of the hat if I had more time (damn you final year dissertation!).
But a few days ago I found out that one of my childhood friends is standing against Osama for the SSP (Scottish Socialist Party), James Nesbitt and I grew up together in one of the most impoverished parts of Glasgow. Although James is standing for a fringe party and there is little chance of him getting in, i’ve always been something of a fan of the underdog. Good luck to both of them in the upcoming election. I’m glad I don’t stay in Glasgow central any more so; i’m not torn between who to vote for.
Sad thing is though, I’m not voting in this election my local candidates are twats.
